The hiking in and around Lech is some of the best on earth. Hikes range in dificulty from very nice "beginner" trails between Lech and Zug to strenuous intermediat trails that lead to extraordinary views of the surrounding alps.

Wellness & Spa Opportunities

Lech is full of beautiful spa hotels that are open to non-guest visitors. Massages and treatments are quite reasonably priced (compared to big US cities). Some spas have outdoor pools with great views of the alps. Note that European etiquette usually requires full nudity in saunas and steam rooms.

Lodging Options

Lodging Options

Lech abounds with lodging options, from small family run "pensions" (B&Bs), to comfortable apartment chalets, to mid and high-end hotels.

Pensions (B&B)

Pensions are a great option for individuals, couples, and families. Many include parking, breakfast, and some sort of wellness (sauna or steam-room). Summer prices average about 52 Euro per person, per day.

Apartment usually offer a main bedroom, a living room, and a full kitchen or kitchenette. These chalets also often offer breakfast, parking, and wellness facilities. Summer prices average about 160 Euro per day per apartment.

Hotels (3-4-5 Star)

Lech's boutique and luxury hotels promise special experiences. You may find that summer prices are a very good value for exceptional addresses.

Golf and BBQ

Golf and BBQ

Opened in 2015, the new Golf Club Lech is a beautifully designed 9-hole course located 5 minutes up-valley from Lech in the quaint village of Zug.

On Friday, 24 August 2018, we will host a tournament followed by an afternoon BBQ.

Getting to Lech is easy (and beautiful)

Overview from Lech Tourism Office: Click Here

By car: Lech is just a few hours' drive from several international airports. Google Map

By rail: Trains stop in Langen am Arlberg (take the #91 bus to Lech) and St. Anton am Arlberg (the #92 bus) (expect to pay less than $10 per person for the bus)

Taxis can also be arranged from the rail stations (expect to pay about $70)

Closest airports and driving times from Lech:

  • Innsbruck, Austria - 1 hour 40 minutes (Directions)
  • Munich, Germany - 3 hours 7 minutes (Directions)
  • Zurich, Switzerland - 2 hours 15 minutes (Directions)

car rental

Renting cars is often inexpensive and easy in Europe. For short stays, you usually only need to show your US driver's license; I have never needed an international driver's license. Nevertheless, it never hurts to have one and they are only $20 from AAA (Website here).

Use of the highways in Austria requires the purchase of a sticker (called a "vignette"). A 10-day sticker costs about $10. If you are caught on the highway without a sticker, the fine is about $150.

We have the best luck using Expedia. They have very reasonable rates (often less than $200 per week) and they usually offer free cancelation.

Train travel is another great option. Trains can take you from any airport (Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Innsbruck) to Langen am Arlberg or St. Anton.

The least expensive transfer is by bus - about $10. The #91 bus runs from Langen to Lech (about 20 minutes). The #92 bus runs from St. Anton to Lech (about 40 minutes).
